1. Check the Business License (Even if you can't read it)
Ask for their "Business License" (营业执照). Check the "Business Scope" (经营范围). If it doesn't explicitly mention "synthetic diamonds" (合成钻石) or "jewelry manufacturing," they are likely just a general trading company.
2. Request a "Live" Inventory Video
Don't be fooled by high-quality studio photos. Ask for a quick, handheld video of the specific stone with a piece of paper next to it that has your name and today's date written on it. Scammers won't be able to do this because they don't have the stock in hand.
3. Validate the IGI Certificate Number
Always check the number on the official IGI website. But go further: ensure the inscription on the diamond's girdle matches the certificate under a loupe (ask for a macro photo).
4. Location Check
Is the company address in Henan (production) or Shenzhen (trading/polishing)? These are the only two legitimate hubs. If they claim to be a jewelry factory but are based in a remote city with no industry presence, proceed with extreme caution.
